Re. Artist Lizettte Duvenage

My name is Dickson Reid. Amateur musician, songwriter and instrumentalist. In the winter of 2018 I wrote a song called "The Magic Fiddle" which I arranged for choir and violin with piano arrangement (by Dennis Hahn). I wanted to find an artist to produce an image of the characters described in the lyrics of my song the Magic Fiddle. My preference was a watercolor artist who's work and skill level was worthy of using as a cover image for published sheet music, advertising for a choral concert (scheduled in June 2018) and for a later CD cover to represent my music. I used the Freelancer web site to search for an artist to hire. I had a tight deadline to meet. I also required an artist capable of incorporating fine detailed images of humans and animals in a fantasy/fairy tale style of art with vivid color. I ended up hiring Lizette Duvenage from Edmonton AB Canada through the Freelancer web site.

Lizette very quickly produced a working sketch of the image I required based on the lyrics of my song. We kept up close email communication essential for the artist and patron to work together. It took three drafts emailing back and forth for this artist to produce a sketch far exceeding my expectations. She had many original suggestions and ideas to enhance the interest factor and perspective. The placement of figures (animals, people etc.) in  a beautiful landscape setting is an art in itself! 

After the final sketch I approved to go ahead with watercolor. Lizette is an extremely careful artist. Working in watercolor requires patience as color placement can quickly make or break a delicate piece of art. This part can make you feel a bit on edge as you have a deadline and you've placed yourself in a vulnerable position where you don't know exactly what the result is going to be. You have to put your trust in the artist. Lizette send a few works in process to calm my nerves. I gave her feedback on the colors and images.

In the end I was thrilled! I had a beautiful painting to put on my wall here in Palgrave Ont. and a computer image she provided on a memory stick of "The Magic Fiddle" to be used for advertising and my music cover requirements. The whole process took about three weeks to get outstanding results, definitely magazine quality art. This artist was a joy to work with! I highly recommend Lizette if you are looking for a professional artist with class!
